How to Vacation with Privacy
As we begin to ramp up for traveling next year, there are many questions and doubts in our minds. But the most prevalent is how can we avoid the crowds and have some privacy while traveling internationally?
I’m happy to say that is my specialty. I focus on designing customized and highly personalized trips. That also means including many private experiences.
Continue reading for some examples of how you can avoid the crowds while traveling to some of the most visited areas in Europe…
Private Transportation...
Private Transfers - I’m happy to say all our itineraries have always included private transfers (from/to airports and train stations). In addition, we can offer private transfers between cities, even in countries where you may have normally traveled by train. In cities like Venice, where there are no vehicles, your itinerary will always include private boat transfers upon arrival and departure.
Private Airplanes - As a result of the current world situation, many travelers are looking to charter private planes. We can offer this on transatlantic flights or on shorter flights when traveling within Europe. There are several companies that offer this service with different size planes depending on number of travelers and the destination. These private charters offer safety and sanitation measures unlike anything that can be provided by commercial carriers.
Private Experiences…
The options are endless but below are several very popular ones that are always loved by clients…
Exclusive Vatican Visit with the Key Holder - This tour gives you the chance of entering the Vatican Museum before their opening to the public, and opening the doors alongside the Key Holder who is responsible for opening the 300 doors leading to the rooms of the Museum. You will also have the great honor to open and switch on the lights of the Sistine Chapel before enjoying a lovely breakfast in the Pine Court.
Private Motorboat or Yacht for the day - The best way to explore the coast is a day out on a private boat. Your captain is more than happy to customize the cruise to suit your needs… stop at a seaside restaurant for some fresh-off-the-hook seafood, take a dip in secluded coves accessible only by boat, or make landfall to enjoy a stroll in a lovely seaside town. These private boats or yachts are offered in many coastal destinations and the experience will create some of your most cherished vacation memories.
Private Museum and Palace Visits - Visit the Louvre before the crowds! Before and after hours visits can be arranged or behind the scenes access to the Louvre and other museums in Paris and beyond. These services are also available at the palace of Versailles and other palaces throughout France.
Private Visit to a Tuscan Winery - Imagine your driver whisking you away from your Florence hotel, enjoying a spectacular drive through the Tuscan countryside, and arriving at a magnificent vineyard for your private tour. You’ll have the opportunity to glimpse behind the scenes and take a closer look at the production process and meet some of the inspiring personalities behind the wine. Join your personal sommelier-guide for a private tour of the vineyards and the barrel cellar. Continue to taste the estates’ current vintages and olive oil. Your day will only get better as you enjoy an elegant lunch with one of the estate’s top executives. Along with a three-course meal of local delicacies and the company of one of Italy’s premier winemakers, you’ll have the rare opportunity to sample a selection of the estate’s celebrated vintages.
Private Culinary Experiences - Our private cooking experiences are the most incredible way to learn about local foods and cooking styles. Whether in Paris, Lyon, Rome, or so many other cities... this is what you can expect during our private culinary experiences... Your day usually begins with a visit to the market with your chef. Here he will show you all about the local products. Then you will continue to his kitchen where, together, you will prepare a 5-course meal. Finally you will enjoy the fruits of your labor along with local wines.
Accommodations…
Hotels have instituted very strict cleaning protocols and social distancing in public spaces. But if you’re still unsure about staying in a hotel, there are other options… from apartments in major cities to villas in the countryside. We can help secure your reservations wherever you will feel most comfortable. For more details on private villas see my previous blog.
So there you have it… you can definitely travel internationally while having privacy and staying away from the crowds. I hope these examples give you an idea of the options and ways to travel. Once our world is healthy again I would be honored to help plan your much needed vacation. Email me to schedule your complimentary consultation.
