The Best of Turkey
Turkey is a vast peninsula connecting Asia to Europe. Its unique location is surrounded by three seas: Black Sea in the north, Aegean Sea in the west, and the Mediterranean in the south.
There is so much to explore in Turkey, from the bustling city of Istanbul to the fairytale landscape in the countryside, the beautiful coast, and even a golf region in the south.
On this Blog we will focus on three regions in Turkey. These will provide history, culture, unbelievable sites, and a seaside escape.
ISTANBUL
This city is a mix of Europe and Asia. It is the only city in the world to be located on two continents. Part of the city is in Europe and part in Asia, divided by the Bosphorus Strait. A stroll around the old city will have you surrounded by mosques, museums, and the Grand Bazaar. Modern Istanbul is on the other side of the Galata Bridge, in Beyoglu, where you will find the best neighborhood for contemporary art and culture. There are quite a few more areas of the city to explore. You can't possibly discover it all during one visit.
Where to Stay… Istanbul is a huge city and the most important thing to consider is if you prefer to have the spectacular Bosphorus views or be in the old town and the main attractions (this area is also quite crowded). Although there is a new hotel property opening in 2023 that may solve that problem and give you the best of both worlds.
CAPPADOCIA
This fascinating place feels like you are in another world. Cappadocia is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site containing areas of natural beauty. This region, in central Turkey, is a magical destination. It is known for its rock formations, fairytale scenery, quaint little villages, open air museums, underground city, and the hundreds of hot air balloons that soar in the sky every morning before sunrise. You will fall in love with Cappadocia and all the amazing experiences you can have here. Enjoy fascinating hiking trails, flying in a hot air balloon, experiencing pottery making, horseback riding, ATV tours, and so much more.
Where to Stay… I recommend staying in one of the spectacular cave hotels where you can wake up to the view of the hot air balloons every morning, simply magical.
BODRUM
Located in the south-west on the Aegean Sea, with its breathtaking beaches and coves, Bodrum's sparkling blue seas make it a paradise for a seaside vacation. Wander the charming streets of old town Bodrum, explore different neighborhoods, and lose yourself in Bodrum's bustling nightlife scene. Bodrum Marina is a short stroll from city center and is a great destination for dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Where to Stay… there are many luxury hotels in Bodrum offering stunning views, private villas with pools, and even adult only properties.
There are many other areas to explore in Turkey but visiting these three will give you a great overview of the country, its history, and its spectacular landscape.
